Fantastic news for yet another young, talented, visionary Canadian designer! Sid Neigum has just been awarded Toronto Fashion Incubator's greatest honour, their New Labels Grand Prize Award! $25,000 in cash from Suzanne Rogers herself to expand his empire, a feature in FLARE Magazine, and his very own design studio space at TFI headquarters! (in partnership with TNT Boutique).
This is a huge prize and an incredible honour that was gifted to the awe-struck Neigum during TFI's 25th Anniversary Gala at the ROM just last week. We spoke about it here.
Hailing from Edmonton and based in New York, Neigum is known for playing with unusual shapes and creating new silhouettes for the modern man as well as the modern woman; often manifesting in interesting, androgynous designs that challenge consumerism in marketable, ready-to-wear ways. Neigum is imaginative and often dark, and his collections have been consistently adored and praised during Toronto Fashion Weeks past and present since his early days as a designer. In my personal opinion, he is one of Canada's greatest young talents; on a similar level to other notable, growing successes like Adrian Wu, Jeremy Laing, and Sunny Fong.
Making waves and a huge impact during Fashion Week, Neigum has already started to maintain stock lists in New York and Hong Kong. With this new, incredible award behind him; Neigum's presence and brilliant work can only go higher and further; it is well-deserved! Congratulations!
