Sarah Burton's latest Fall/Winter 2012 Runway under McQueen was cyber-imagination, quite literally, personified. Billowing fabric and organic shapes dominate the collection, as well as sugary, pastel, creamed tones accented with bold, bright reds cinched with dramatic metal pieces and belts. The collection is not my favourite from Burton, as I am used to being taken to another place under work (like her McQ collection earlier this year). This collection feels too much like an homage to the McQueen aesthetic without being the McQueen aesthetic, and as a result, is less impressive in feeling even though it possesses such brilliant artistic composition, which I am not afraid to say. Burton is a magician, and her work is unmatched in the imagination and artistic license of the fashion world; this much is true and will remain true for probably quite some time.
